Lion is known as the king of beasts in nature, it is a very large carnivorous mammal. Lions are the second largest cat species after tigers. The musculature of this animal is very developed and its average weight is 175 kg.

Lions are mainly distributed in Africa, India and so on. It is worth noting that this feline breed also existed in the Balkans and southern Europe long ago.

Lions mainly feed on bovids such as elk or wildebeest, as well as mammals such as buffalo and warthog. Although the animal consumes an average of 7kg of meat a day, the lions don't take the time to hunt. In fact, lions spend more than 21 hours a day inactive. Once his food supply runs out, the lion goes hunting.

The lion's hair is short and the body color is light gray, yellow or brown. The male lion has a long mane, which is light brown, dark brown, black, etc., and the long mane extends all the way to the shoulders and chest.

Male lions with longer and darker manes tend to attract more attention from lionesses. The male lions living on the north and south ends of the African continent have more developed manes, extending to the back and abdomen, and they are also the largest in size.

Lions come in several different colors, including brown, yellow, and even red. A lion's paw is three inches long, about the length of a human finger. The lion has a huge head, a broad face, a long nose, and a black nose. The lion's ears are relatively short and round, the lioness's ears are basically short and semi-circular, while the cougar's ears are longer and pointed. The forelimbs of lions are stronger than the hind legs, and their claws are broad. The tail is relatively long and ends with a tuft of dark long hair.

Lions are good swimmers, lions can jump 36 feet, lions eat about 18 pounds of meat a day, the equivalent of eating more than 70 hamburgers. A male lion's mane begins to grow at about 18 months of age and continues to grow until the age of 5.

Only one in eight male lions live to adulthood, a male can stretch to 10 feet in length and weigh 400-500 pounds, with females typically weighing between 250 and 350 pounds. Lions can hear the voice of prey from a mile away.

Although lions are called "kings of the jungle", lions do not live in jungles, they only live in grasslands and plains. A lion's pupil is three times larger than a human's, but the lion's eyes don't move side to side very well.

A lion's vision in the dark is six times better than a human's, and a lion's bite is 30 times stronger than that of a domestic pig. Male lions may mate 100 times in two days to ensure that the female lion is pregnant. Each mating lasts only a few seconds, and the lioness is pregnant with the cubs for about three and a half months.

Two thousand years ago, more than one million lions roamed Europe, India and other places. In the 1940s, there were 450,000 lions. Today, the number of lions on the earth is drastically reduced, and we must pay attention to the protection of lions.
