China Taiwan's Snow Peak, standing at 3,886 meters, is the second highest mountain on the island and offers one of the most rewarding hiking experiences.
Located in the central part of China Taiwan, Snow Peak is a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Let's explore everything you need to know for your hike!
To reach Snow Peak, head to Wuling Farm in Taichung. It takes about 2-3 hours from Taipei by car or bus. If you're driving, rent a car and follow the signs from Taichung to Wuling Farm. The trailhead starts near the farm. Alternatively, buses from Taipei to Wuling Farm are available, though schedules can vary.
There is no entrance fee to access the trail, but if you plan to stay at one of the mountain lodges, accommodation fees range from NT$500 to NT$1,000 per person. The trail is open year-round, but the best hiking times are from March to November, when the weather is mild. Winter snow can make the trail challenging, and summer can be crowded.
Snow Peak offers a challenging yet rewarding hike, split into two main parts:
Day 1: From Wuling Farm, hike to Qika Mountain Lodge . This section is moderate, passing through lush forests.
Day 2: Continue to the East Summit and finally reach the Main Summit , offering stunning panoramic views.
The trail is well-marked, but it's a good idea to have a guide or use GPS if you're not experienced in mountain hiking.

Check the weather before your hike to avoid unexpected conditions.
Start early to ensure you have plenty of daylight.
Pack wisely: Bring sturdy boots, warm clothes, a first-aid kit, sunscreen, and snacks.
Accommodation: Reserve lodges in advance as they fill up quickly, especially in peak seasons.
Stay hydrated and pace yourself as the altitude increases.
