The Zambezi River is located in southern Africa.

It is the fourth largest river on the African continent, after the Nile, the Congo, and the Niger. Victoria Falls is located in the middle reaches of the Zambezi River and is known as one of the world's three famous waterfalls, alongside Iguazu Falls in South America and Niagara Falls in North America.

European explorer David Livingston discovered it during his journey in 1855 and named it after the Queen of England. Victoria Falls was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1989.

Victoria Falls is actually a large group of waterfalls. Seven waterfalls, nearly 100 meters long, are arranged on the cliff face from west to east. In terms of width, drop, and water volume, Victoria Falls is among the world's leading.

At its widest point, Victoria Falls is 1,690 meters wide. Opposite the cliff where the river falls is another cliff, only 75 meters apart. In between, there is a narrow gorge, where the water forms a huge whirlpool called a "boiling pot". It then flows down the 72 km-long gorges to Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls is actually divided into sections: East Falls, Rainbow Falls, Devil's Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Main Falls. The most distinctive feature of Victoria Falls is its water mist.

When the Zambezi River is full of water, 7,500 cubic meters of water per second gush over King Victoria Falls and into the Basalt Channel. The volume of water is so great and the downward momentum is so strong that the splash of water can be seen from as far away as 40 kilometres. The water spray forms a rainbow that can be seen from 20 kilometres away.

This beautiful natural wonder remained untouched until the 12th century. Later, Chief Mukuni and his tribe settled down. Because no one was found, they thought and believed that this beautiful place must be inhabited by spirits. But Victoria Falls remained unknown to the outside world.

There is a moving legend about the Falls. It is said that below the deep pool of the falls, every day there is a group of beautiful girls like flowers. Day and night, they beat the golden drum of Africa. The thumping sound from the golden drums.

The sound of the golden drums became the sky-shaking roar of the waterfall. The light of the colourful clothes worn by the girls was reflected by the waterfall to the sky. By the sun turned into a beautiful seven-coloured rainbow.

The girl's dance splashed a thousand splashes of water into a sky of clouds. What a wonderful, enchanting view!
