Simian Mountain Scenic Area lies in the southwestern region of Chongqing (China), nestled within the northern foothills of the Dalou Mountains, which trace their origins to the Yungui Plateau.
Its geological distinction as an inverted mountain is complemented by an exquisite blend of landscapes, including peaks, forests, waters, cascades, and red rock formations. The area is celebrated for its harmony of serenity, grandeur, and untouched ecological beauty.

The region is divided into eastern and western scenic areas. The eastern section includes highlights like Longtan Lake, Wangxiang Terrace, Pearl Beach, and Land Rock, while the western side features destinations such as Shuikou Temple and Dapopu. Together, these areas boast eight main attractions and over 130 additional points of interest.
Simian Mountain is home to over a thousand waterfalls, with notable examples such as Wangxiangtai, Shuikou Temple, Land Rock, and Mandarin Duck Waterfalls. The Wangxiangtai Waterfall, in particular, impresses with a drop of 152 meters and a width of 38 meters, towering over many other renowned falls in the country. In 2008, it was named one of the most stunning waterfalls in China.

The scenic area is located in Jiangjin District, Chongqing. Visitors can take buses from Chenjiaping Bus Station or Caiyuanba Bus Station in Chongqing to Jiangjin. From there, transfers are available to Simian Mountain Scenic Area.

Longtan Lake stretches approximately 3 kilometers and offers tranquil waters perfect for boating and fishing.
