Origami pumpkins are an easy and budget-friendly way to transform your space for Fall and Halloween.
String them together for a festive garland, hang them in windows, or create various sizes to decorate walls, doors, or tabletops.
You can also customize the look with different colors and patterns, making them as traditional or modern as you like. Not into typical orange-and-black Halloween decor? Try pastel, metallic, or glittery papers for a unique, chic vibe. Whatever your style, this craft is sure to impress.
1. Origami Paper: Choose colors and patterns to match your theme (orange, brown, pastel, metallic, etc.).
2. Scissors: For cutting paper stalks.
3. Adhesive: Double-sided tape, glue dots, or paper glue for attaching stalks. Avoid runny glue to prevent buckling.
1. Start with a square piece of origami paper
Fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle.
2. Fold the triangle in half again
This will make a smaller triangle.
3. Create a diamond shape
Open up the top triangle and press it flat to form a diamond.
4. Repeat on the other side
Flip your paper over and press the other triangle flat into a diamond shape.
5. Shape the flaps
Take the top left flap and open it outward to the right.
Fold the flap in half to meet the center crease.
Return the flap to its original position and press it flat.
6. Repeat on the right side
Open the right flap to the left, fold it to the center, and press it flat.
7. Create a slim triangle in the middle
Fold the left flap upward to the center and press flat.
Repeat on the right side.
8. Shape your pumpkin
Flip the paper over and fold the top and bottom points inward to create a rounded shape. Do the same with the left and right points.
9. Add the stalk
Cut a thin line of green paper for the stalk. Attach it to the back of your pumpkin using double-sided tape or glue dots.
10. Repeat and assemble
Make as many pumpkins as you like! Attach them to a string to create a garland, or use them individually as decorations.
1. Garland: String several pumpkins together for a festive display on mantels, windows, or walls.
2. Table Decor: Scatter them on your dining table for a whimsical touch.
3. Large Display: Make oversized pumpkins to stick on walls or doors.
4. Unique Colors: Experiment with pastel, glitter, or patterned papers for a non-traditional look.
