Have you ever seen white peacocks? They are stunning when they open their screens.

The only internationally recognized varieties of peacocks are the blue and green peacocks.

White peacocks generally refer to the mutated varieties of wild blue peacocks under artificial breeding, with a mutation rate of about 1/1000, and are rare in number and extremely valuable ornamental birds.

In the eyes of female peacocks, the monotonous color of male white peacocks will not have the splendor of blue and green peacocks is more attractive.

However, through captive breeding, the white peacock has reached a state where the population is self-sustaining. It is mainly found in Sri Lanka and India.

The white peacock is snowy white with no hint of miscellaneous color in its plumage and a faint red tint to its eyes.

Except for its color, the white peacock is not very different from the common peacock and prefers to live in hilly forests, dry semi-deserted grasslands, shrubs, and deciduous forest areas, especially near water areas.

It feeds in the fields in the early morning and evening, prefers to nest on the ground but roosts in trees.

Generally foraging in the early morning and dusk, coming to the stream in the early morning to drink water and wash their feathers, and then going to the woods together to feed, resting in the shade at noon in the heat, and then feeding again at dusk.

In the evening, they fly up to the branches of the trees to rest.

The white peacock has underdeveloped wings and is not good at flying, but has strong feet and is good at sprinting and running.

The white peacock's diet is mainly plant-based, but it also eats locusts, crickets, moths, termites, frogs, lizards, and other animals.

In captivity, corn, wheat, bran, sorghum, soybeans, and soybean cakes, and grasses are the mainstay, and they also eat rice, sprouts, grass seeds, and other foods.

They also eat insects such as crickets and locusts, and some small reptiles. Animal food is mainly based on termites. However, in the wild, white peacocks also eat juvenile cobras.

White peafowl is polygamous birds, with each male living with about five females. The breeding season of the white peafowl runs from April to August. During the breeding season, males are very aggressive and will even attack their image in the mirror.

The female peacock lays 4 to 8 eggs at a time, which are white to creamy yellow, and incubates for 28 days.

Only the female participates in the incubation. Chicks have light brown feathers with a slightly darker color on the back.

Although the white peacock is more monochromatic in color compared to other species of peacocks, it is no less beautiful.
