Hey Lykkers! Have you ever wandered through a fortress that takes you back in time?
We've just returned from an unforgettable journey to Amber Fort in Jaipur, where the grand architecture and rich history truly left us in awe.
Amber Fort(Amber Palace) is one of the most spectacular attractions in Jaipur, blending traditional Rajasthani architecture with Mughal influences. As we explored the fort, we were surrounded by ornate carvings, grand courtyards, and magnificent gates. One of the most striking features of the Amber Fort is its Sheesh Mahal or "Palace of Mirrors," which dazzles with intricate mirror work that reflects light in mesmerizing patterns.
Opening hours: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and ticket prices: ₹25 for Indian visitors, ₹200 for foreign tourists. We found ourselves lost in the beauty of this historic fort, and we are sure you'll feel the same!
Right next to Amber Fort is Jaigarh Fort, which we decided to explore after marveling at Amber's grandeur. Known for its massive walls and the largest cannon on wheels in the world, Jaivana, the fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We were fascinated by the secret passages and architecture, which provided a peek into the past when this fortress was a stronghold.
Opening hours: 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and ticket prices: ₹35 for Indian visitors, ₹85 for foreign tourists. Jaigarh Fort is a must-see, and we were glad we made the visit!
After our day exploring Amber Fort, we stayed at The Trident Jaipur, a luxurious hotel conveniently located near the fort. The hotel is a serene oasis, offering a beautiful garden and stunning views of the surrounding Aravalli hills. Prices for a standard room start at ₹8,500 per night. The hotel also offers an outdoor pool, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing.
While visiting Amber Fort and its surrounding attractions, we couldn't resist trying some of the local delicacies. We stopped by a popular street vendor near the fort and tasted Pav Bhaji, a flavorful vegetable curry served with buttered bread rolls. It cost us around ₹60 for a serving, and the rich, spiced flavors made it the perfect snack to energize us during our adventure. Another local favorite is Kachori, a deep-fried pastry filled with spicy lentils, costing approximately ₹40 per piece. These local bites gave us a true taste of Jaipur!
When visiting Amber Fort, be sure to wear comfortable shoes as there's a lot of walking to do, and the fort is located on a hill. You can also opt for an elephant ride to the top of the fort, which is a fun experience, although it comes with an additional fee of around ₹1,200 per person. It's also advisable to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the intense afternoon heat.
