Hey Lykkers! If you’re looking for a city full of exciting adventures, rich culture, and stunning scenery, Auckland is the perfect place to explore

We recently had the chance to visit this vibrant city in New Zealand, and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you! From beautiful beaches to thrilling hikes, Auckland is packed with things to do and see.

Sky Tower: A Bird's Eye View of Auckland

One of the highlights of our Auckland adventure was the iconic Sky Tower. Standing at 328 meters, it’s the tallest structure in New Zealand, offering panoramic views of the entire city. We took the elevator up to the observation deck, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. We could see the sparkling waters of the Waitemata Harbour, the lush greenery of Auckland Domain, and the nearby volcanic cones that dot the landscape. The best part? We got to spot nearby islands like Rangitoto and Waiheke in the distance!

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices: The Sky Tower is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the view. The ticket price for adults is NZD 32 and for children NZD 13, which we felt was great value for such an amazing experience. You can also book tickets for the SkyWalk or SkyJump, if you’re looking for an extra thrill!

Auckland Memorial Museum: A Cultural Adventure

Another must-visit in Auckland is the Auckland Memorial Museum. This museum is not only a place to learn about New Zealand’s history but also a cultural hub, showcasing the country’s rich indigenous heritage and natural history. We were fascinated by the Maori exhibits, which offered a glimpse into the life of the indigenous people of New Zealand. We also spent time exploring the museum’s collection of Pacific Island artifacts and natural history displays—a perfect mix of culture, history, and art.

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices: The museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and offers free entry to the public, though there is a fee for some special exhibitions. For a deeper dive, we highly recommend joining one of their guided tours to learn even more about the exhibits. The entry fee for these tours is around NZD 10 per person.

Practical Tips for Visiting Auckland

While visiting Auckland, there are a few things we found useful to know. The public transport system is easy to use, and we found Auckland Transport (AT) buses and trains to be very convenient for getting around the city. You can buy an AT Hop Card, which works on all forms of public transport and can be recharged as needed.

If you’re interested in spending some time outdoors, be sure to visit Auckland Domain—the city’s oldest park. It’s the perfect spot to relax, have a picnic, or enjoy a scenic walk. The park is free to visit, and there are also nearby botanical gardens that are worth checking out.
